Setting the Mood

At Recovery Base, the sauna was designed to feel less like a luxury add-on and more like the heart of the space. A warm, enveloping room where members can slow down, sweat deeply, and reset together. The interior is wrapped in thermo-treated alder, chosen for its rich tone and smooth grain. As the room heats, the timber releases a subtle natural aroma that deepens the sense of calm. Soft lighting and generous bench lines create a welcoming environment where the heat builds gradually and the outside world fades away. At the centre of the experience sits a powerful heater designed for serious sauna sessions. With a large rock capacity and deep thermal mass, the room fills with a soft, consistent heat that encourages long, restorative stays.

Materials & Details

Every element of this build was chosen for durability, performance, and atmosphere. The interior cladding and benches are crafted from thermo alder, a thermally modified timber known for its stability, longevity, and deep caramel colour. The treatment process enhances the wood’s resistance to moisture while giving it a refined, spa-like finish that will age beautifully over time. Heating is powered by the Harvia Legend Pro, a commercial-grade sauna heater loaded with up to 220kg of stones. The large rock volume creates exceptional thermal mass, allowing the room to hold heat evenly while producing the kind of rich, rolling steam—löyly—that true sauna enthusiasts chase. Despite the robust build and commercial specification, the entire installation was completed in just four weeks from start to finish.

A Spa for Everyday

Recovery Base was created as a place where recovery is part of everyday life. The sauna plays a central role in that ritual. Whether members arrive after training, a long day at work, or simply to reconnect with the community, the room delivers a consistent, deeply satisfying heat session. Water on the stones releases waves of steam that soften the air and encourage a slower pace. It’s a sauna built not just for occasional indulgence, but for daily use—where high performance materials meet a welcoming, social atmosphere. A space designed to be used often, shared freely, and enjoyed for years to come.
