TimberHaus is an Illawarra business. Every sauna we make is designed and built in our workshop on Five Islands Road in Port Kembla, so for homes and businesses from the Northern Suburbs to Kiama, measure-ups, site visits and servicing are quick and easy.
We start with the space you have, whether that’s a spare room in Figtree, an ensuite in Thirroul or a backyard with an ocean view. Bench layout, heater position, lighting and ventilation are planned together, and for coastal homes we choose timbers and finishes with the sea air in mind.
Then the same team that designed your sauna builds it and installs it.

Where are you based?
Our workshop is at 35 Five Islands Rd, Port Kembla. Every TimberHaus sauna is designed and made there, then installed by our own team across Wollongong, the Illawarra, the South Coast, Sydney and beyond.
How much does a custom sauna cost in Wollongong?
It depends on size, heat type, timber and how much building work the space needs. Every sauna is quoted to your room or site. The quickest way to a ballpark is the two-minute sauna planner, and we’ll come back with options for your budget.
How long does it take?
Most saunas take 4–8 weeks from first consultation to installation. Because we’re local, we can usually get out to measure up quickly, and time on site is short because the sauna is made in our workshop first.
Can you build an outdoor sauna near the coast?
Yes. For outdoor and coastal saunas we plan the timber selection, finishes, roofing and placement around sun, wind and sea air, so the sauna looks good and lasts.
Do you build commercial saunas in the Illawarra?

Do I need council approval?
It depends on the project. An indoor sauna within an existing home is often internal work, while outdoor saunas may need approval depending on size and placement. We’ll flag what’s likely needed early and work with your builder or certifier.
